Kohaku shuddered, tormented by a nightmare of images. Faces scratched asunder. Bodies decaying, crumbling – falling – onto bloody death.

“Why?” cried the girl in black – in black like him.

Killed by him.

Kagura, awoken through the torture, gazed at Kohaku. Watched the restless sleep. Heard the cry of pain. All the while she wondered why she did not turn away.

Suddenly he screamed, staggering into a slant of moonlight. His face, was it not battered? His body, was it not scared by battle? And those hands, were they not awash by blood?

Kagura gasped while a webwork of scars corrupted Kohaku's virginal flesh.

“Make me forget!”

Kohaku tried to stand despite the pain but stumbled and fell onto Kagura's inhuman arms.

Together they were smeared by the blood that all Naraku's spells could not wipe clean.

“Forget it, Kohaku!”

Kohaku shivered. Kagura held tight – tighter. The damage healed as if the human were youkai. Only that blood lingered.

He was exhausted into oblivion. She was not unnerved by the contact, boy to woman. Perhaps she cared about him but she was indifferent of the realization. Maybe he was an ally.

If he remembered, then Naraku -

But she dared not, not yet.
